why i hope tony dungy retires

full disclosure: i am not that big of a colts fan.

now i am sure that this is a chance for a lot of people to assume that i am hoping for tony to retire so that the colts will fall apart but i don't think they will.

i hope dungy retires because he might be someone who has a lot more to offer away from the game than through it.

some people make their greatest contributions in whatever it is they become famous for and others make their contributions after their initial success has passed.

this is something i think a lot about with the current president. what will his contribution be after he leaves office? i think that this will truly be the measure of him as a man of God. how will he spend his time? what will he give himself too? jimmy carter is often maligned as a president and i do not know enough about the intricacies of late 1970's america to have an opinion but this is what i do know: habitat for humanity is one of the greatest organizations i know of.

clinton, ghw bush also have given themselves to quite worthy causes. tsunami relief, aids in africa and so on.

which brings us back to tony.

sure he seems to be quite a good coach but what he wants to do after football is really inspiring.

he wants to work with men who are in jail and help them move away from the life choices that put them in that position.

really amazing

maybe other coaches, or presidents don't have that much to offer after they leave their original position but tony does.

and that's why i hope tony dungy retires and never coaches a football game again
